Xenon Prison Grade Searchlights – Francis FX380RC

The Francis FX380RC is a 500W Xenon remote-controlled searchlight designed for marine, border security, and high-latitude operations. Operating via the FBUS RS485 protocol, it delivers a beam distance of 5,290 meters at 1 Lux, variable speed motion, and full functionality in temperatures down to -50 degrees

MAIN IMAGE

Engineered for reliable performance in harsh operating environments, the Francis FX380RC incorporates a 500W Xenon light source and a parabolic glass reflector to deliver 28,000,000 Peak Beam Candle Power (PBCP). The color temperature replicates natural daylight, making it suitable for optical clarity in polar conditions. An instant re-strike feature allows immediate re-ignition without lamp cooling delays.

The searchlight assembly is constructed from marine-grade materials with a powder-coated stove enamel finish and toughened Optiwhite front glass. Motion is managed via a modern membrane joystick panel utilizing the two-wire bi-directional RS485 Francis Bus (FBUS) system. The pan mechanism provides 385∘ rotation at speeds up to 23∘/sec, while the tilt elevation spans +30∘ to -35∘ at speeds up to 8∘/sec. Barrel and gearbox heating elements maintain mechanical mobility in low-temperature operations down to -50∘C. The unit includes a high-efficiency electronic power supply unit (PSU) compatible with 115V or 230V single-phase supplies at 50/60 Hz.

APPLICATIONS

Primary use cases.

Polar and High-Latitude Navigation

The Xenon light source replicates natural daylight spectrum for optimal contrast against ice formations, while the integrated internal gearbox heater ensures operation at temperatures as low as -50 degrees C

Commercial Marine Security and Border Patrol

FBUS RS485 integration permits multi-control configurations and high-speed variable pan/tilt tracking for monitoring moving vessels or hazards.

Coastal and Search & Rescue (SAR) Operations

Provides long-range target identification up to 5,290 meters @ 1 Lux, with instant re-strike capability ensuring uninterrupted operation

Perimeter and Critical Infrastructure Security

Supports remote networked control via TCP/IP or master-slave panels, enabling automated sweeps and integration into site security architectures.

TECHNICAL FAQ

Common specifications and regulatory inquiries.

Q: How many searchlights can be controlled from a single master control panel?
A: A master control panel using the FBUS network architecture can control up to 10 searchlights independently or concurrently.
Where can the Power Supply Unit (PSU) be installed?
Unlike IP20 power supplies, the FX380RC electronic PSU is IP56-rated, allowing installation in exposed or semi-exposed location spaces on board.
Does the FX380RC support programmatic or automated positioning routines?
Yes. Optional control features include a program record function, computer control software, DMX compatibility, and fiber optic or TCP/IP integration via the RS485 bus architecture.
