Xenon Searchlights – Francis FX710RC

The Francis FX710RC is a high-power 4kW Xenon remote-controlled searchlight engineered for long-range target identification in demanding marine environments. Utilizing FBUS RS485 communication, the fixture offers precise variable-speed pan and tilt positioning alongside dynamic beam focusing.

MAIN IMAGE
Xeanon Searchlight

Designed for heavy commercial, polar, and security operations, the Francis FX710RC combines a high-output 4kW Xenon short-arc lamp with a precision parabolic glass reflector to project a focused beam up to 16,749 meters at 1 Lux. The daylight-matched light spectrum ensures accurate visual rendering across water and ice fields.

The remote-control system runs on the custom FBUS protocol via RS485 bi-directional hardware, enabling flexible integration with master, slave, DMX, or IP network control interfaces. Built with high-grade marine materials, the unit includes an integrated gearbox heater, IP66-sealed base, IP56 optical housing, and Optiwhite front glass to withstand extreme marine thermal and environmental stress down to -50 degrees C.

APPLICATIONS

Primary use cases.

Polar and High-Latitude Navigation

The Xenon light source replicates natural daylight spectrum for optimal contrast against ice formations, while the integrated internal gearbox heater ensures operation at temperatures as low as -50 degrees C

Commercial Marine Security and Border Patrol

Provides a maximum beam distance of 16,749 meters at 1 Lux and rapid, variable-speed target tracking via FBUS remote joystick control.

Coastal and Search & Rescue (SAR) Operations

Features instant re-strike functionality for uninterrupted duty cycles and variable beam adjustment (1.5 spot to 10 degree flood) to switch quickly between broad area search and focused target identification

Perimeter and Critical Infrastructure Security

Integrates seamlessly into centralized systems via FBUS, TCP/IP, or DMX control protocols, enabling multi-light master/slave or computer-automated security sweeps.

TECHNICAL FAQ

Common specifications and regulatory inquiries.

Can the FX710RC be integrated into networked bridge control or automation software?
Yes. The unit utilizes the FBUS RS485 communication protocol, which supports integration with master/slave control panels, computer control software, DMX controllers, and optional TCP/IP or fiber optic interfaces
Does the Xenon light source require a cooling delay prior to re-ignition?
No. The FX710RC system features instant re-strike capability, allowing the lamp to be reignited immediately without waiting for a cool-down cycle.
Where should the Power Supply Unit (PSU) be located during vessel installation?
The included 230V Xenon Power Supply Unit carries an IP20 rating and must be installed inside a dry, weather-protected interior deck compartment or electrical locker, while the IP56 searchlight head and IP66 gearbox are mounted externally.
